Wonderful, stylish, price-worthy and central stay in Rio de Janeiro

A very nice and old Villa witnessing Rio‘s Belle Époque combined with a cozy palm courtyard. The slightly elevated location is compensated by the superb panorama. The roof top allows views on all sides, Copacabana, the Sea and Ipanema. The staff is extraordinarily friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is nice. Ipanema beach and Arpoador are reached within 10min walking.

Beautiful view, nice room, friendly staff, good price.

We enjoyed the location and beautiful rooftop! We were able to connect to the Bluetooth speaker and play some music while we enjoyed the view in the morning. The breakfast was simple, delicious, and someone offered to make us eggs which was so nice.

Heads up that the drinks in the mini fridge are not complimentary. I should have known but I figured the person before me left them there. Also, it wasn’t a problem for us, but if you have knee problems - there are a lot of stairs to get to the pool. But the stairs are 1000% worth it!

I have been there 5 times and it always feel like home

Getting there a bit complicated …. It’s very up hill and a lot of stairs… but the view is amazing and the staff is great. Pool area the best Rio has to offer I think . The up hill rooms are the best in the hotel …. A little run down but acceptable. I will always go back .

It has its faults… but that is also the charm .

Loved our stay, highly recommend it.

Very nice style of accommodation, not too big. The pool and top deck were great, amazing views from there. The staff are exceptional. Gabriel, David, Victor and ofcourse Sandra - thank you for the amazing omelettes :)

You need to be reasonably fit for the stairs

cozy stay in Rio

- the staff was really friendly - the location is quiet enough but also close to the city - the swimming pool is great - the views are also great - feels very homey, like a typical Brazilian family house - breakfast at the patio was really nice and cozy

- the stairs were a bit annoying upon arrival with the luggage, but the staff is willing to help as well… they were checking in another guest when we arrived at night so we didn’t know - room was a bit small, hard to open two suitcases, we had to take turns - hot water took a while in the shower - the hotel needs a little bit of maintenance and upkeep to live up to it’s beautiful potential

Wonderful

Really nice and friendly staff, both the ladies who cook breakfast and the receptionists. The view from the rooftop is amazing, the green garden and reception so beautiful and overall we were surprised that the place looks even better than the photos. The breakfast is good, many of the baked goods are freshly made and they make fresh eggs for you every morning. The showerhead in the bathroom was really big and nice. We had a very beautiful balcony with view over Rio.

The hotel is located up a steep road on the way to Cantagalo Favela - we did not experience anything bad on this road and in general it seems safe, but there is some traffic on the road, it is very narrow and difficult for drivers to get up and down from, and it can be dark at night. Room could use some minor upgrades, like a fresh coat of paint and some of the taps being fixed, e.g. it was hard to switch on and close the tap for the shower by the poolside and in the room.

Beautiful, hidden away stay

The staff at the hotel are so great, really helpful and friendly and the hotel is beautifully decorated from the journey up to the reception, to your room and the rooftop pool. Highly recommend

There could have been a bigger selection from breakfast but that’s if I’m being really picky.

very cute hotel with amazing rooftop

Cute Little Hotel with amazing staff and good location, breakfast is included the rooftop terrace with pool and it’s view is amazing. our room was a bit “old” but still our stay was very very nice

room was a bit old, but you can tell that it used to be amazing and very modern when it opened

A really charming, welcoming and lots of character with fabulous views

it was absolutely charming and Lessandro was so helpful. It had fabulous views and was really close to Ipanema and Copacabana. it is perched up a hill so the walk back kept us fit and we felt like we were staying in the real Rio. we had no issues getting taxis to pick us up or drop us back. we loved it

The staff were very friendly and helpful.

There is no warning in Booking.com's advertisement that you have to climb about fifty narrow en very steep steps, with your luggage, before you reach the entrance. There is no porter to help. For older people that will be an impossible task.

Great!

Nice, comfortable room. Fantastic pool area, amazing view. Good value for money. Located up a steep hill at the entrance of a favela, we didn’t have any issues with feeling unsafe.

The bar wasn’t open/ staffed at the pool area, would be good if there was some sort of buzzer to alert staff if you’d like to buy a drink. The breakfast could definitely do with improvement, was just an assortment of sweet and savoury pastries/ cakes and some fruit. Eggs and the option to make toast would be good.
